Were the Iconic business and brands people admire and aspire to own, as personal gratification, so aspirational when they started? Are big brands built overnight? No. Brand building is a painstakingly long and slow process. Most of us will agree it is later. However, we still don’t know the grind and the grit that one has to go through in that long and slow process. It won’t be an exaggeration of a bit if I say that the journey, apart from the hardships involved, is lonely. Such stories need to be told not only because they are fascinating to read but also because they are inspiring. It motivates many generations to build businesses that will change. 'Shoe Dog' written by Phil Night, the creator of the iconic sports and lifestyle brand ‘Nike’, is an autobiography. The book is a fascinating story of how Nike was built slowly and gradually. The book chronicles the testing times, the turbulences, and the challenges faced during the journey. The narrative is engrossing and while reading one can feel the connection with the author. The book is gripping to the point that reader starts cheering for the author on every small success that finds mentioned in the book. Every ebb and flow is felt with an intent. The book also has some very important life lessons that one can drive from it. Though the author has not made any specific attempt to spell out any lessons. He has shared his thoughts in detail. Nonetheless, these lessons serve as reminders to us of how we can get better in our lives. The writing is easy to read and follow, Author has maintained the pace well throughout. The book is captivating and you might find yourself edging to finish the book at the earliest. Overall a great book with some interesting stories and valuable lessons to learn.
